Biography

Juliet started her ‘holiday’ collection in 2000, a decade later and her success
shows no sign of abating – a wardrobe staple for women across the world.

Juliet Dunn is not a newcomer to the fashion industry; her career began
picking up pins for designer Belinda Belville, founder of the fashion house
Belville Sassoon. In the 70’s she launched her own label creating feminine
and elegant ready to wear collections which consisted of eveningwear and
some classic daywear.

In the 80’s this business morphed into a luxury lingerie line and Juliet became
one of the most recognised designers in the UK. Her peers noted that whatever
she turned her hand to it was always with, ‘unique imagination and flair’.

Juliet closed the business in the mid-80s to concentrate on raising her children
but as they grew up she became restless and so the idea of a ‘one collection a
year’ project surfaced.

After a research trip to India, Juliet brought back vintage materials which she
made into sarongs and sold in St Tropez. Pleased with the reception of these
pieces Juliet made a few peasant blouses from these same fabrics and then
the UK shops became interested. Each time the merchandise was delivered
it sold out and so the label grew.

Ten years on and the collection has transformed. Each piece is now a
Juliet Dunn design with only one or two Vintage materials being used and the
clothes have become more technical and are equally at home on the beach
as they are in a city. Labelled the ‘Kaftan Queen’ by one renowned fashion
journalist Juliet is inspired by sun drenched colours, a look which is glamorous
but not glitzy. Some long for her to do a Winter collection but Juliet insists her
pieces can be worn with thick black tights and fur trimmed hats all year round!
